For the last three months, Dr Ruto has visited the county for over six times, often under the invitation of area Woman Representative Purity Ngirici.

On Sunday, thousands turned up at an event graced by Dr Ruto in Kirinyaga, the home turf of Governor Ann Waiguru, who decamped to President Uhuru Kenyatta's team.

Dr Ruto has made several trips to Kiambu, Murang'a, Nyeri, Nyandarua and Kirinyaga, perhaps as he intends to stamp authority ahead of 2022.

On Sunday, Ruto resisted plans to change law, despite strong support by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who wants the country to go for a referendum.

“Let the former Prime Minister be sincere and walk to the BBI secretariat and point out the specific clauses which he thinks should be amended for him to concede defeat in 2022,” Ruto said.

Governor Waiguru on the other hand is on the receiving end, with Dr Ruto now ready to support Ms Ngirici for the county seat. Waiguru has already hinted possibility of endorsing Raila Odinga.

“Raila understands the challenges women are facing. He has spoken firmly about it even during the funeral of Joyce Laboso (the former Bomet Governor),” Waiguru said, insisting that women must have representation at the executive level.

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirichi said Mt Kenya people have already made up their mind who their next Head of State will be; and that is William Ruto.

“We have no doubt where our support will be come 2022. You have stood with us and we will stand with you,” said Ms Ngirichi.

Although Waiguru is yet to give a rejoinder, she's said to be planning a host of activities under Embrace team to counter the wave of DP and Mrs Ngirici.
