Imran, brother to former MP the late Ken Okoth, was picked after what the party officials termed a win over the remaining 10 aspirants who were eyeing the party ticket.

But the analyst now wonders how the former CDF boss managed to win the seat after the public openly showed its scorn for him after he was openly booed and heckled.

Speaking on Monday, he observed that the voters openly showed its dislike for him after he backed plans to cremate Okoth's body, questioning ODM' nominations.

"We saw Imran being heckled, how come shortly after it emerges that he has been nominated? Unless the hecklers were hired then there is something ODM isn't telling us (Tuliona Imran akipigiwa kelele sasa inakuwaje muda kidogo baadaye eti amechaguliwa? Unless wale walikuwa hired goons, huenda kuna kitu ODM haituambii)," he said.

He made the remarks on Radio Maisha on Monday morning, which were immediately faulted by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Sifuna said that Imran won back the hearts of the people through his grassroot campaigns, saying that he managed to explain to them what transpired, and the need to cremate Okoth.

According to him, it was the will of the departed to be cremated, which left Imran and the remainder of the family with no other option, and Imran shouldn't, therefore, be demonized for doing his brother's will.

"Hizo kelele hata sisi zilitupiga na butwaa maana hili swala litaingia katika mambo ya uchaguzi. Lakini alirudi Kibra kuwaeleza mbona mambo yalitendeka hivyo na huenda aliwashawishi," he added.

This translates to: "We too ere shocked by the heckling as we never expected the issue to extend into the election issue. However, he went back to Kibra to explain why things happened that way and he possibly convinced them."

Imran will now face off with among others, Jubilee Party's McDonald Mariga and Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate Elius Owalo in the November 7 main race.
