Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has taken issue with a section of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, which was presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.
The vocal senator faulted the BBI team for proposing that the president picks the prime minister, warning that this will only make the president more powerful than he already is.
The report proposes that the president will be accorded powers to pick a Member of Parliament for the slot, and forward his name for approval by the house.
"In my view this will leave us with a very powerful presidency. By saying that the president picks the prime minister, that's nonsense (Ninaona nikama hii itafanya tuwe na a very powerful presidency, ukisema president anachagua prime minister hiyo ni upuzi)," he told Milele FM's Alex Mwakideu at the Bomas of Kenya on Tuesday.
He urged Kenyans to read and scrutinise the report, adding that he will do so, and later make his mind on the proposals made.
"Our leader supports it but he has also said that Kenyans will start a conversation regarding the same. We cannot just get into something blindly. (Inasupportiwa na kiongozi wetu lakini yeye mwenyewe alisema wakenya wataanzisha mazungumzo)," he opined.
