The autopsy results of the Second-Year Moi University student whose body was found hanging from the ceiling of a lecture hall are out. The results indicate that the student, who was identified as Japheth Mungai, died of asphyxia also known as suffocation.
The revelation came after the test was conducted on his body and results released to the media on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.
The report indicates that the student died after being deprived of oxygen. The outcome ends speculations that the student was murdered by unknown persons since he had no physical injuries on any of the body parts when he was found.
Uasin Gishu County Police commander Johnstone Ipara has confirmed the results. He said that police have embarked on a probe into the death of the student, adding that several persons have been interrogated over the same.
“A number of persons of interest have thus far recorded statements in connection with Mungai’s death. We are still looking for his friends, who are at large,” said Ipara.
The family of the deceased has been calling for justice for their son. The kin believes that someone else is likely to be behind the brutal murder of their son. The report, however, indicates that the student was hyper-inflated when his body was discovered at the lecturer hall.
