Embakasi East Member of parliament Paul Ongili famously known as Babu Owino on Monday was charged with attempted murder at the Kilimani Police station.
This is according to reports from The Star which have indicated that he pleaded not guilty when he appeared before chief magistrate Francis Andayi.
The prosecution opposed an application by the defence for the accused to be released on bail.
"He is well known to the victim of the crime and he has made attempts to reach witnesses especially the victim's father," the prosecution stated.
Babu Owino is being represented by seven lawyers including Dunstan Omari, Cliff Ombeta. The defence argued that Babu Owino will not interfere with the investigations if released on bail.
The Legislator had been arrested for allegedly shooting a DJ at B club on Friday morning. He was taken to Kilimani Police Station before being transferred to Gigiri police station.
Police officers over the weekend searched his house and collected ammunition. Babu Owino's gun together with bullets and used cartridges were also taken by the police.
Detectives also collected DNA samples from Babu Owino to aid in the investigation. It is reported that Babu Owino has paid the hospital bill for DJ Evolve, the man who as allegedly shot.
