The young man identified as Ian Ndeto was a student at Athi Secondary School and had disappeared on Sunday.

The incident was confirmed by Athi River Police Commander Samuel Mukuusi who said that the boy was reported missing on Tuesday.

"He was reported missing from their resident in Stage 39 area, Canaan sub-location on Sunday," said Mukuuusi.

Mukuusi said that the boy's hands were tied from behind and his body had been devoured by wild animals.

"It was reported by the area location chief Cecilia Nzioka that a body had been discovered in the forest. His body had been eaten partially by wild animals likely hyenas," said Mukuusi.

The deceased's body had injuries and he had been stripped naked and his clothes dumped a few metres from where his body was found.

His body was moved to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

The motive for his murder is still a mystery but the police have begun investigations into the incident.
