The distribution of the rainfall in time and space is expected to be good in most parts, especially during the peak month of November.

Henry Sese the Kisii County director department of meteorological services in National Government on Tuesday urged farmers to maximize the rains for better produce

"Farmers should make good use of the expected rains and maximize crop produces through suitable land-use management. Farmers are advised to liaise with the State Department of Agriculture for advice on the appropriate seeds to be planted. The expected timely onset in most parts of the county is conducive for agriculture," said Sese in a presser at his office.

On water and sanitation, Sese advised residents to harvest the waters for domestic use and he urged the County Government to make sure drainage system is up to standard.

People are encouraged to harvest as much water as possible for future use. Urban centres are also encouraged to urgently construct storm drainage systems and open up clogged drainages to avoid piling of floodwaters in towns from surface runoff," he said.

Sese reinstated that various parts of the county are likely to experience outbreaks of diseases that are associated with enhanced rainfall such as malaria, respiratory diseases, vector and water-borne diseases.

Traders doing business under trees have been advised to be keen and avoid sheltering under trees during the rains. Here is the video on what he said.
