Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta is under attack from his own forces.

Speaking on Wednesday night on the 'Pointblank' program aired on the Kenya Television Network (KTN), the county boss contended that the apparent defiance by some factions in Jubilee was feeding the sense that the president was under siege.

"There are forces that are trying to undermine Kenyatta’s work and these forces do not care about Kenya, " Governor Mutua said.

The former government spokesperson pointed to the politicking that some politicians in the governing Jubilee party were engaging in in defiance to the president call for people to focus on working for those who voted for them.

Dr Mutua urged the head of state to take action to send the unmistakable message that he was in control.

Deputy President Dr William Ruto has come under blistering criticism over what his detractors say is his defiant attitude to the president.

He has long rejected criticism that he is engaging in politics as he traverses the country only saying that what he is doing is monitor government projects across the country.
