All Kenyans are entitled to their opinion on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, Political analyst David Makali has said. Speaking during an interview on K24 on Sunday, Makali said that those supporting the report have no moral authority to criminalise or ridicule those against the same.
He argued that all Kenyans have the freedom of expression and they can disagree to agree on different issues as far as leadership is concerned. Makali appealed to all leaders to give Kenyans a chance to read and internalize the report before they can make an informed decision at the end of the day on the same.
He alluded that it has come to his attention that some individuals want to force the report on the people of Kenya, which he says should not be the case.
"Those against BBI should not be criminalized or ridiculed," he said.
The remarks come after Deputy President William Ruto lamented that his rivals have resolved to make him the subject of the rallies to popularize the report.
Speaking on Sunday at St Christopher Catholic Parish - Kyumbi, Maanzoni, Machakos County for a church service, Ruto said that he is not impressed by the fact that some of ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga's allies have taken advantage of the report to hurl insults at him.
"I saw yesterday insults formed half of the meeting, there was less mention of BBI than mention of Ruto and his home in Sugoi," Ruto said.
