Harambee Stars forward Michael Olunga on Saturday scored the bulk of the goals as his club Kashiwa Reysol took on Kyoto Sanga.
Olunga found the back of the net 7 times in a game in which the Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol won 13-1 in the game.
The news was made public by renowned sports journalist Carol Radull.
"Michael Olunga scored 7 goals as his side Kashina Reysol beat Kyoto Sanga 13-1 in the Japanese second-tier league," Carol Radull posted on Facebook.
The Kenyan player has been an important player for his Japanese club.
He played a crucial part in Kashiwa Reysol's campaign last season that saw the club lift the trophy.
Should it finish the season at the top of the Japanese second-tier league, the club will be promoted to the top flight league next season.
Olunga has also proved to be an important player for the Kenyan national football team.
Two weeks ago, he scored Kenya's only goal when the Harambee Stars took on the Pharaohs of Egypt in Alexandria during an African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
Olunga's goal cancelled out Mohamed Karaba's goal and gave Kenya an important point in Alexandria.
During the AFCON tournament this year, Olunga scored a brace when Harambee Stars faced Tanzania in an explosive encounter that ended with 3-2 scoreline in favour of Kenya.
