There was drama in Omwaro village, Bigege in Bosamaro ward, Nyamira county after a middle-aged man received a dog's beating from angry members of the public after he attempted to commit suicide.
Confirming the incident, Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba said the man, Zachary Omwoyo quarrelled with his neighbour before he attempted to hang self inside his house.
"Omwoyo picked a quarrel with his neighbour who he accused of carelessly abandoning his cow to trespass to his compound and destroyed flowers. His neighbour insulted him as a drunkard something that angered him," said Mariba.
The commissioner said Omwoyo after the heated quarrel he locked himself inside his house where he hanged himself using a rope.
Mariba said were it not for the neighbours who rushed to the house, Omwoyo could be past tense.
"Omwoyo was under the influence of alcohol when he attempted suicide. Neighbours broke the window of the house where he had hanged self and managed to rescue him. Angry neighbours gave him a dog's beating for attempting to kill himself," noted Mariba.
The commissioner warned residents against taking suicide as the last option in life when faced with difficulties. He appealed to residents to live in peace, unity and harmony.
