Embakasi East Mp Babu Owino has condemned the horrific xenophobic violence in South Africa(SA), Nigeria and Zambia.
Through a Facebook post on Thursday, the youthful lawmaker noted he never thought he lives to see such violence in Africa.
In the ongoing violence in South Africa, Kenyans have been reported affected as women are raped, children murdered and belongings destroyed. Babu claimed he is ready to travel to speak to youths.
"We need to urgently come together to inspire our fellow young people to do better. If the older generation won’t do anything, we must step up! I am ready to travel to South Africa and Nigeria at a moments notice to speak to the youth and turn them away from the destructive path that they are on. And I call upon my colleagues to join me in this. Africa must rise!" he noted
Furthermore, the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party MP, he revealed his influential mentor was Kwame Nkrumah when Babu was growing politically. He noted that the late would be turning in his grave when he sees what Africa has allowed.
He, therefore, called upon youths for Africa to rise to the occasion.
"I firmly believe that there are more of us with good hearts than those with bad hearts. There are more of us who want to see one Africa than those who would see us broken into pieces. I, therefore, call upon my fellow leaders in the Youth For Africa Movement, Bobbi Wine, Nelson Chamisa and Julius Malema, we must rise to the occasion." he added
