A book about Garissa politics will be incomplete without the name Aden Bare Duale.
He is undoubtedly among the political kingpins in the North-Eastern region.
The outspoken lawmaker has taken centre stage in the Jubilee government and his loyalty to DP Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta is increasing daily.
Among the elected leaders in Garissa county, it is Duale who has been in the game a little bit longer.
Besides, he has polished his name into a key national political figure. Hardly a day passes without the name Duale appearing in the news headlines.
The manner in which he brilliantly contributes to debates in Parliament has given him excellent political oratory skills.
His anti-Raila politics have also given him fame in Garissa and nationally.
Garissa county has a crop of good leaders, but Duale stands out as a de facto leader due to his aggressive politics, consistency on political podiums and ability to reach to the ground frequently.
He remains Garissa’s defacto politician because of his vibrant politics, a huge network of political allies plus his post of National Assembly majority leader.
He was once an ardent ODM politician, a party on whose ticket he was elected MP for Dujis constituency in 2007.
He, however, moved from ODM and was re-elected on a Jubilee ticket in 2013 and 2017 respectively.
He studied bachelor of education (economics and history) at Moi University.
