Embakassi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino will be charged with attempted murder, the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has said.
Speaking to Nation, Kinoti said Babu is currently being processed and will be taken to court later today.
“We will charge him with attempted murder. It is apparent that he wanted to kill the man,” Kinoti said as quoted by Nation.
The vocal legislator was arrested earlier today over claims that he shot a DJ at a club in Nairobi.
According to a police report, Babu shot Felix Orinda on the neck after a heated exchange.
"He drew his pistol and shot the DJ in the neck. The victim was rushed to Nairobi Hospital in serious condition by the management of the club," the report read as quoted by Nation.
Following the arrest, Babu has been a topic of discussion on social media.
