On Wednesday, an audio of Governor John Nyagarama reprimanding minister went viral, raising questions about the secrecy of the cabinet meetings.

Sleuths from Nyamira were immediately dispatched to the cabinet to help investigate how the audio made its way to the public despite having been a closed-door meeting.

For several hours, sleuths combed phones of all ministers but could not establish immediately who was behind the viral audio.

However, it was now emerged that it's the governor himself who made the blunder according to officers aware of the ongoing investigations to the audio.

"The governor called one of his confidants but failed to hang up. The confidant went on to record the call not in bad faith though," said the officer.

In-depth investigations linked former youth leader Elijah Nyamoi to the fiasco and he has since admitted that indeed, it's him who recorded.

"Let us not make it viral. Kindly let the matter rest. I called the governor and I apologised for the same. It's now a solved matter," he was quoted on Saturday.

In the audio, Nyagarama was heard scolding ministers over mismanagement of government vehicles, accusing them of carelessness.
