Details have emerged on the happenings that took place immediately after Deputy President William Ruto learnt of his alleged assassination plot late last month.
The DP got wind of the plot in a letter with the details, purportedly written by a member of the cabinet and addressed to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In the letter dated May 30, 2018, the author claimed that four Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya were holding meetings and planning on eliminating the DP.
The Nation has established that Ruto rushed to the State House to complain to Uhuru about the said plot, and also demanded answers if he knew anything about what was going on.
This pushed Uhuru into calling for an urgent meeting with security chiefs, including the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.
The paper adds that Uhuru personally told Kinoti to ensure that he solves the puzzle within hours, with the probe now going round to end up at the DP's Harambee Annex offices.
State House Secretary for Digital Innovation Diaspora Communication Denis Itumbi who is also a close ally of the DP was on Wednesday arrested over the assassination letter.
He is accused of sharing it to a political WhatsApp group. He was on Thursday detained for five days to give police more time to complete investigations.
