A religious leader in the coastal region has compared the recent invasion by locusts as God's move to punish people for their wrongdoing.
Citing an example in the holy book (the Bible), the man of God related his argument to a point when God used the plague of locusts over adamant Pharaoh.
Ministering at Jesus Care Centre Ministries, Bishop Thomas Kakala said that through prayers, the invasions could possibly clear.
He also noted how the government seemingly was giving up in the efforts to combat the invasions through spraying.
Bishop Kakala noted that locusts were one among the biblical punishments that God imposed on Egyptians when their ruler became arrogant and ignored the voice of God.
He also lamented how the Building Bridges Initiative had become a battle which targeted DP Ruto, other than bringing public awareness on what it was. He pointed out an instance in the Bukhungu meeting on Saturday whereby Ruto name got mentioned innumerable times.
"I am not here to defend DP Ruto because everyone has his or her own sins. But why is it only Ruto being mentioned at the BBI rallies of concern to Kenyans," Kakala said, as quoted by Standard.
"Kenya must change and turn to God. People must repent their sins, and this begins with the king to call his prophets and organize a national prayer day," he added.
The locusts have invaded several parts of the North-Eastern region with the government stepping up efforts to combat them through air spraying.
