Addressing the media in Nairobi on Sunday, Kalonzo said that Kenyans are tired of a totalitarian or imperial presidency.

He noted that time has come for the leadership to share powers for the sake of the marginalized groups to benefit from the national cake as well.

He referred to the suggestion made by the COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli who called for the creation of the Prime Minister post and two deputies to allow for power-sharing.

The Wiper leader said that the arrangement was the best and it can resolve several issues in government.

"The person who will be the Prime Minister should come from a party with majority seats in parliament or the coalition government with the highest number of MPs. That politician will have authority. So when the president appoints that person he can share powers in one way or another because Kenyans do not want a totalitarian, imperial presidency.

Kwa hivyo rais akimteua huyo awe ambaye wanaweza gawana mamlaka kwa njia moja ama ingine hawataki mtu totalitarian, imperial presidency),” he said.
