An elected Member of Parliament allied to the ruling Jubilee Party has reacted following the increased cases of theft in his constituency.
Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi on Tuesday while speaking in the constituency said the rate of theft is high and urgent measures need to be put in place to curb the menace.
"I'm yet to know the thieves who broke into my house and stole households such as utensils including sufurias and a television set. This means cases of stealing are high in Kitutu Chache North," noting that the vice is now troubling many of his constituents.
He attributed the high theft cases to insecurity in the constituency and appealed to police officers to speedily act before more people lose their property to the thugs.
The lawmaker insisted that police must hunt down thieves who stole from his home and those who have been breaking into schools to steal valuables such as laptops.
"The people of Kitutu Chache North need to be assured of their security by police. I challenge police officers to step up efforts to flush them out," stated Angwenyi.
