Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has spoken out after a scuffle that was triggered by his arrival alongside Moses Kuria at the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting in Kitui.
Writing on Twitter on Saturday after the meeting, the senate majority leader appeared to acknowledge the difficulty in bringing the country together.
He said that he would remain focused on that difficult task of ensuring that the country becomes united eventually.
"Building Bridges of unity is not an easy task but we must do it. Glad to join Kenyans in Kitui today. We shall remain focused on this difficult task," the Elgeyo Marakwet senator said.
The Elgeyo Marakwet and Gatundu South legislators were met with tremendous hostility from some members of the crowd that attended the meeting.
Governor Ngilu was even heard ordering those who had disrespected the head of state President Uhuru Kenyatta to be removed from her meeting.
However, the two governing Jubilee lawmakers were allowed to access the podium where other leaders were but were not given the opportunity to address the crowd.
They are close allies of the deputy president Dr William Ruto and are seen as not being fully behind the BBI process, which explains the hostility that they have encountered in the BBI meetings that they have graced.
