According to the Standard, the legislator is also calling for the reduction of Deputy President's powers.

Arama says the failure of the constitution to allow President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire his deputy, William Ruto, has given the later too much freedom.

The MP claimed that Ruto had abandoned Uhuru and decided to act on his own.

He pointed out that the situation can be solved by carefully introducing the law into the constitution.

“As it is, the president cannot fire his deputy because there is no law guiding him on the matter. Like what we are witnessing, where the DP is dancing to his own tune when his boss is playing the fiddle alone is a situation that should be tamed through properly constituted laws. But unfortunately, we don’t have the same and it shall only be through the BBI referendum,”  Arama stated, according to Standard.

Borabu Member of Parliament Ben Momanyi is also said to be in support of the proposal.

There appears to be a growing rift between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto which has, in turn, affected the unity of the Jubilee party.
