This comes amid the DP's said fights with members allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta under the Kieleweke tag, and said frustration from Secretary General Raphael Tuju.

But Weda says that the DP appears to be deliberately getting into fights with the intention of bolting out, and is therefore using his harassments as a justification.

Speaking on Wednesday, he observed that the DP is setting up the forces opposed to him within the party to enable him get reasons to leave the party without being blamed.

He said that in his opinion, the DP is also using the referendum issue, which he appears opposed to, to solidify his argument when the time comes.

"I think the DP is setting them up for his exit. I think he is mixing this with the referendum issue to enable him spring out," he said on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation.

About the referendum, the DP appears more of the opposition, while Uhuru has repeatedly hinted at supporting changes to expand the executive arm of government for more inclusion.

At the same time, there exists an imaginary widening rift between two, which is being said to emanate from Uhuru's truce with former Premier and Ruto's chief rival Raila Odinga in 2018.
