Confirming the incident, Special Crime Prevention Unit boss Pius Gitari said that the detectives have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

He also said that they are trying to analyze their communication before an action is taken against them.

“We are still analyzing their phones to establish a communication pattern,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

The gang went on a shopping spree after withdrawing some money from accounts.

The thugs used her credits to purchase liquor at various clubs and food after the incident.  The criminals also reportedly transferred some money from her accounts to mobiles phones believed to belong to their relatives.

A CCTV footage from a local supermarket shows the suspects buying food and other household items.

One of the suspects, who reportedly worked for the diplomat for a year before he quit, is seen walking to the ATM to withdraw some money before he joins others at the supermarket.

“That is the gentleman who asked them not to hurt me,” Kimani told the police.

The robbers allegedly forced their way into the diplomat’s Kileleshwa home on the night of June 27. The diplomat, who has since recorded a statement with the police, was in her kitchen when they made their way into the place.

The gang was armed with crude weapons including knives and a pistol. They tied her and closed her mouth before they started looting her property.

At some point, they threatened to kill if she dared raise an alarm. The robbers walked away with 52-inch television set worth Sh40,000, jewelry worth Sh300,000, a printer valued at Sh30,000 and mobile phones estimated at Sh60,000.
