Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday criticized the Deputy President William Ruto for rejecting the Building the Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Speaking in Mombasa during the burial of Michael Ngumbao Jola who was killed during the political chaos that arose at the home of Ganda Ward MCA Reuben Katana on October 15, Raila claimed that there will be time for expression of views on the report.
''There will be time for views of Public to they give their input and amendments to be done, another team will also be appointed to come up with the proposed policy which will be taken to the county assembly,'' Raila Odinga stated.
Raila added that one of the objectives that informed the creation of the BBI was stopping extra-judicial killings.
According to the ODM leader who spoke metaphorically, he knew from the beginning that the BBI will face a lot of challenges.
''I told Uhuru that the journey to Canaan was still on only that River Jordan had crocodiles and wanted to build a bridge to cross that's why we formed the BBI Commission but others have begun opposing it even before the report is released,'' Raila noted.
Coastal leaders who attended the burial including Governors Hassan Joho and Amason Kingi expressed confidence in the BBI team, adding that constitutional amendment are inevitable.
The BBI task fore finalized its report on Wednesday. The team will officially handover the report this week to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday said he will 'stand with Uhuru' adding that there is democracy within the ruling Jubilee party.
