Deputy President William Ruto has no option other than to support the Building Bridges Initiative report, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire has said.
The DP has come out as a strong critic of the BBI which was initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
BBI team will handover the final report on Tuesday at State House, after which Kenyans are expected to read and make decisions about it.
While attending a thanksgiving ceremony for Kibra by-election loser MacDonald Mariga, Deputy President William Ruto said they were aware that Raila was using the BBI to prepare for the 2022 contest.
“Let them not hide in the BBI while their real intention is 2022 politics,” said Ruto said as quoted by the Standard
But in a phone conversation with this writer on Saturday, Mr Bosire, who served as Kitutu Masaba MP in the last parliament, said the report has nothing to do with 2022 politics.
He accused Dr Ruto of creating a wrong narrative about the report, adding that he will be crushed if he doesn't stand with Kenyans.
"Raila is not after any power. Raila enjoys support from many people. He has Kenya at heart and wants to live behind a united country," he said.
Bosire added: " The DP should choose to stand with people or get crushed. Changes in this country are inevitable. We must embrace them."
The ODM treasurer said he will be happy to see electoral changes, adding that the current IEBC should be disbanded for aiding electoral theft in the past.
On Nyamira gubernatorial seat, Bosire said he's ready to face opponents but "I will launch the campaign after studying the political realignments".
