Members of Parliament have raised concern over the auction of top-of-the-range vehicles previously owned by the government.
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) now wants Labout Principal Secretary Peter Tum to table before the National Assembly all the documents showing the sale of the cars before the end of Monday.
The lawmakers have read malice in the entire process and they want action taken against them with immediate effect. The legislators claim that the cars were sold for as low as Sh30,000 but there are no records to show transactions of the same.
The MPs have demanded the PS to show particulars of bidding as well as the corresponding prices of different vehicles for record purposes.
PAC Chairman, Opiyo Wandayi has said that they will not change their stance as far as the sale of the vehicles is concerned.
“We want full names and addresses of eventual buyers of these vehicles. We also want the names of individuals who came up with the reserve prices in both your ministry and the State Department for Transport,” Wandayi said.
Tum claims that the vehicles' prices were determined through an independent process. He also dismissed allegations that some of the vehicles were sold at a lower price compared to the one shown at the tendering process.
He further said that the process was conducted in accordance with the law.
