Godfrey Osotsi who is a nominated Member of Parliament under the Amani National Congress (ANC) party on Monday claimed that their party leader Musalia Mudavadi was surrounded by people allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
According to the MP who was speaking outside the parliament buildings, the Pro-Ruto people were focused at creating a rift between Musalia Mudavadi and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Musalia Mudavadi and Raila Odinga appeared to have grown apart after their NASA coalition failed to secure victory in the last presidential election.
Odinga had at one point termed the former co-principals as betrayers as they did not attend his mock swearing-in as the people's president.
“Mudavadi is surrounded by pro-Ruto people whose political advice is geared towards distancing him from Raila,” Mr. Osotsi stated as quoted by Nation.
The BBI rally that took place at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega saw the two politicians share a podium. This was after Mudavadi made a U-turn to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
The sudden change of stand appears to have saved MP Osotsi and Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.
“Now that Mudavadi has categorically stated that he supports the BBI, Cleophas Malala and I have been vindicated because the party had opted for disciplinary action against us for supporting the agenda,” Osotsi added.
