Rongai Deputy County Commissioner Julius Kavita has sounded a stern warning to bar owners in Salgaa Trading centre who open their businesses before 5 pm.
The DCC who spoke at Boror Location on Monday during International Literacy Day said as administrators, they will not sit and watch as a section of businesses in the area violate the law on liquor.
Kavita has now ordered chiefs in the area to work closely with police in ensuring that no bar operates before the required time as per the law.
“We cannot have bars opened before the required time. That is where our youths engage in some activities that are not productive,” said Kavita.
His sentiments come after a section of residents of Salgaa Trading centre raised alarm over a number of bars that have been opening doors to the public before the required operation time.
Meanwhile, the Rongai DCC has also called on parents to take responsibility for their children.
He says this will help in addressing the issue of street children along the Salgaa stretch.
“As parents, we should ensure our children are in school. No child should be found on the street," pleaded Kavita.
