Lovers Jacque Maribe and Joseph Irunguh have pleaded not guilty to the murder charges pressed against them by the prosecution.
Appearing before a High Court judge Monday, the two through their respective lawyers rejected the murder charges and asked the court to obligate the prosecution to furnish them with the necessary documents so that they can prepare for a defence.
Maribe has been serving time at the Lang'ata Womens' Prison while Jowie is doing his time at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.
Today marks the first time that the two have taken a plea.
Monica Kimani was found lifeless in a pool of blood at her home leading to the arrest of Jowie who is alleged to have committed the murder.
The murder case has gripped the public for days on end because of the stature of Jacque Maribe as a renowned journalist.
Police contend that Maribe knew about the murder but chose to remain silent.
Both have applied for bail which has not yet been granted.
They will be back in court on Wednesday.
