Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga had rubbished claims that he asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to help him become president.
There have been claims that the two are working closely together for 2022 polls, a claim which Odinga denied.
Speaking in Mombasa on Friday, Odinga said the Building Bridges Initiative report is not about creating positions for Uhuru and himself.
“We did not discuss anything to do with President Kenyatta helping me become president and him becoming prime minister. This is propaganda by those opposed to the BBI process. We came up with BBI to unite Kenyans and not to create divisions,” he said.
The two leaders have backed the Building Bridges Initiative report, and are keen to have a referendum by June 2020.
Deputy President William Ruto has been sceptical about the BBI meetings, raising doubts about the quest for unity.
“There is a scheme to adulterate and hijack the process to end up with a report Kenyans did not propose. Rallies may continue with all the drama but we must have in place a structure where ordinary people will have an opportunity to present their views,” he said.
