Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has put his staff engaging in business with the county government on notice.
While addressing chief officers and heads of departments at Golf Hotel Kakamega on Tuesday, Oparanya, who is completing his second and final term in office said that he will not tolerate members of his staff who want to engage in business with the government at the expense of development.
He noted that he is aware of staff members who are seeking tenders in the government for their selfish gains.
“A directive is hereby issued to all employees of the county to with immediate effect to refrain themselves from doing any business with the county government or through a proxy. Such arrangements make the county to procure goods and services at inflated prices,” said Oparanya.
He also said that he will not allow corruption to take root in his government. He urged the county officials to concentrate on matters of development instead of fighting for the resources of the county.
He also warned the officials who have given tenders to their family members to desist from the same.
