Deputy President Wiliam Ruto’s remarks that ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga is the Lord of Poverty have not augured well with the latter’s allies.
Kisumu Women Representative Rosa Buyu has now termed the second in command as the real Lord of Poverty.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Buyu said that DP Ruto has been dishing out money to poor Kenyans instead implementing projects that can benefit.
She noted that the DP has never taken his time to understand the essence of empowering his people.
“I think the lord of poverty is our DP because he prefers dishing out money without looking at the real essence of life (Healthcare, water),” she said.
She noted that good leaders have been struggling to create opportunities for their people but the poor ones want to use the money to hoodwink them.
She further said that the DP needs to tame his tongue for the sake of peaceful co-existence in this country.
"There are politicians that want to create opportunities/ development so as to elevate poverty among the people & those who want to give handouts everywhere they go so that you are kept happy but your status remains the same when you go back home," she added.
