Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has announced a number of changes in his government as he seeks to ensure better service delivery before he completes his first term in office. On Wednesday, Nyong’o nominated 14 chief officers to join his team.
The nominations come in less than two weeks after he sacked three of his ministers. Confirming the changes in the government, County’s Communications Director Aloyce Ager said that the names of the nominees have since been forward for vetting and approval from the Members of the County Assembly.
The nominees are: Penina Akiyi, Paul Abuto, Imelda Monica, Joseph Arung, Rosemary Akinyi, George Agwar Yanzar, Haggai Kadiri, Joseph Omulo and Daniel Otieno. Others are Zacheus Okoth, Daniel Ochieng’, Geoffrey Ochieng’ and Alphonse Ouya.
The nominated officers are expected to assume office in eight departments once their names have been approved by the County Assembly after presentation. The county boss said that the remaining vacancies will also be refilled soon to ensure better service delivery at the end of the day.
“The remaining positions shall duly be re-advertised by the Public Service Board in accordance with their mandate,” said Prof Nyong’o, as quoted by Standard.
The governor sacked Thomas Ondijo (Roads, Transport and Public Works), Richard Ogendo (Business, Cooperatives and Marketing) and Alice Moraa (Energy and Industrialisation) before the new changes.
