Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has launched fresh attacks on Deputy President William Ruto, days after asking President Uhuru Kenyatta to arrest him over the controversial construction of Arror and Kimwarer dams.
Through his social media pages on Friday, the outspoken legislator posted a video accusing Ruto of trying to destroy Uhuru's name for the sake of his 2022 presidential ambitions.
"People blackmailing the president using some lily words, some demagogues in the name of trying to paint the good name of our president. He wants to paint it wrong because he is so focused on the idea of winning the 2022 elections while he has not performed anything," he said.
The former University of Nairobi student leader blasted Ruto for going around the nation campaigning for the 2022 presidential elections since 2013.
On Wednesday, he urged Uhuru to arrest Ruto who was over his alleged involvement in the dams scandal.
Owino who is a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga accused Ruto of being the "lord of poverty" after Ruto made the "lord of poverty" remarks against Raila last week on Sunday.
