Kiambu county government has moved a step ahead to employ 62 more health officers to sustain the health concerns of the Kiambu people.
Through a message sent to newsrooms, County Secretary Fredrick Kitema said the medics are expected curb and sustain the ongoing shortage of the officers in the public health institutions.
Kitema said the health sector has been encountering lots of challenges in the service delivery to the public and the move will help settle everything, including in the newly opened hospitals.
He added that the governor has so far opened at least six hospitals among them dispensaries this year and they needed medics and attendants.
The medical officers employed are among them 32 pharmaceutical technologists, 14 reproductive health officers, 10 community oral health officers and clinical officers.
He has further called on the new medical officers to ensure they meet their demands set by the county public service board in their contracts to avoid any inconvenience in their new jobs.
He said that they are expected to report and start the jobs in their respective stations immediately as some of the dispensaries and hospitals have no officers and the public is in need of the services immediately.
