More than 62 groups benefited from Kiambu constituency Uwezo Fund on Wednesday at Ndumberi playing grounds.
The event which was presided over by area Member of Parliament Jude Njomo is meant to support youths to venture into businesses and improve their living standard and support their families.
According to the legislator, the funds will greatly reduce unemployment where youths will venture into businesses and put food on their tables.
He called on youths to be visionary and business oriented people instead of waiting for the government to employ them which he says youth are the leaders of tomorrow in line with vision 2030.
“Let us be visionary and make Kenya an industrialised nation instead of waiting for the county government to employ us,” said Njomo.
Njomo said that many youths have fallen out of their mission in life and have engaged in crime, drug and substance abuse which have infected our society with immorality and spearheaded the increase number of HIV and Aids in the region.
He has cautioned the beneficiaries to repay the loan the moment they start making profits so as not to be blacklisted from borrowing money in near future.
