You should never ignore a burning feeling in your chest as it might be severe to an extend it becomes life-threatening.

Some of the causes of a burning chest are;

1. Stomach ulcers

This is an open wound in the stomach which results when stomach acid wears off the stomach lining. The burning feeling in the stomach or in the central part of the chest occurs when the ulcer is exposed to some stomach acids or pain relievers.

2. Pneumonia

This is an infection that makes the lungs fill with air or pus. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi which make breathing quite hard and a person experiences a painful cough. The fever, cough, vomiting, fatigue and nausea results in a burning sensation in the chest.

3. Heartburn

Heartburn occurs the moment when stomach acid backs up into the oesophagus. The burning sensations mostly take place after you have eaten something or during the night.

It becomes worse when you lie down or bend and this results to a sour taste inside your mouth. The risk of suffering from heartburn is increased by consuming acidic foods such as sodas.
