Ahead of the Saturday Building Bridges Initiative public forum in Mombasa, the pro-President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga camp has been warned to be cautious following Deputy President William Ruto's surprise U-turn to allow his political backers to attend the meeting.
On Tuesday, the pro-Ruto camp confirmed that they will be attending all future BBI consultative meetings across the country, starting with the Mombasa one.
However, governance expert and politician David Osiany has warned the Uhuru-Raila camp to be cautious in their dealings with their rivals during the Mombasa meeting.
According to Osiany, Team Tangatanga could be out to lay a trap in Mombasa by provoking the pro- Uhuru and Raila backers to create a confrontation which they will then use to their advantage by portraying Team Kieleweke as intolerant.
" They may decide to go there just to be kicked out then they say, ' which BBI is this that wants to bring the country together when they are that intolerant?'. So, the organizers, Joho and Kingi and all the Coastal Governors must reign on their supporters and say, ' if they will come, we are welcoming them'," said the ODM politician during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday.
The previous BBI meetings held in Kisii and Kakamega were skipping by the pro-Ruto camp.
