Veteran Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni did not disappoint at a function in Moroto on Thursday along Kenya-Uganda border, during signing of peace deal.
As he waited for President Uhuru Kenyatta, his guest, Museveni sat comfortably at the northern dry region, with the temperatures being at 22° Celsius.
Curiously, the former military officer, did not forget his guerrilla-like jacket, similar to what he used to wear while fighting the then government in forest.
And as a routine, his jacket was oversized, something that never worries him when visiting several places within Uganda and other countries.
The two leaders discussed on how to support pastrolist communities, mostly the Karamonjong and Turkana, who often cross borders for pastures.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta and I discussed how to support the pastoralist communities of Karamoja and Turkana, in Kenya," Museveni said.
On his part, Uhuru backed free movement of people across the border, arguing that free trade will help African countries develop by a larger extent.
"H.E. said the peace & devt. prog. will assist in transforming the region from a conflict zone to an area of progress, devt. & wealth.
"He called for free movement of people, goods & services across borders of African countries saying the continent can't develop without free trade," State House reported.
Museveni first clinched power in 1986 and has since then stayed in control. Recently, he had age limit expunged by Parliament, a move that will allow him contest in 2021.
He is one of few remaining veteran leaders in power across Africa. His other comrade Robert Mugabe died last week. At first, he indicated that he would lead for few years.
