Deputy President (DP) William Ruto's assassination claims were not only ill-timed but also ill-motivated, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has said.
In an exclusive interview on KTN's Pointblank show, Waiguru said the alleged plot to end the life of the DP was orchestrated with the aim of dividing the voters from the Mt Kenya region.
She affirmed that the region will stand with anyone who will prove that he or she will not abandon them during the hour of need including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga when that time comes.
Waiguru also said the four Cabinet Secretaries in the alleged plot to eliminate the DP are innocent.
"The accusers of the four Cabinet secretaries in the alleged assassination plot against the Deputy president were trying to turn the country against a group of people in Mt Kenya in order to divide us," she said.
The first-term county boss claimed that there are individuals within the government who are working day and night to split the region before the next general election.
She warned that the leaders are in for a rude shock because the region will remain united than before.
“There are people working hard to split the region so that we have no voice and representation in the future," Waiguru said
