A family in Kakamega County is in mourning after their son, a 54-year-old man, reportedly hanged himself.
Saul Anenje allegedly hanged himself with a mosquito net, after his wife reportedly refused to meet him, despite him sending fare three times.
According to the family, the wife identified as Beatrice Nanyama, had not only 'eaten fare but also wasted money meant for their kids' school fees.
The woman had left her matrimonial home with her kids in November last year, following chronic marital problems.
Before taking his life, the deceased had reportedly called his wife seeking a family reconciliation.
However, the wife is said to have rejected the offer, stating that she wasn't interested in reconciling with the man.
"My brother's wife told him that she was done with him and wanted the marriage annulled," said Joshua Anenje, brother to the deceased.
"Yesterday, he complained that Nanyama had made the heartbreaking decision, yet in the recent past, she had been receiving money from him under the pretense that she would use it to travel and meet him," added Joshua.
The incident was confirmed by Shianda location chief George Maina.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kakamega Country Referral Hospital.
