The Kenya Meteorological Department has said that heavy rains being witnessed currently will continue to be experienced for the next few days.
The weatherman has said that beginning Friday, the rains will intensify until mid-next week.
Areas to be affected include Nyandarua, Kiambu, Nyamira, Migori, Nakuru, Murang'a Kirinyaga, Makueni, Nairobi, Kajiado, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Nyeri and Kisii.
“The wet weather that is being experienced over southern and western parts of the country is expected to continue this week. Heavy rainfall of more than 30 mm in 24hrs is expected as from Friday November 29, 2019 over the South Rift, Central Rift and Nyanza Regions. The heavy rainfalls likely to spread over parts of Central Kenya, Nairobi, South East lowlands on Tuesday December 3, 2019,” said the Met department in a statement quoted by Standard.
The rainfall which is already experienced has made the ground waterlogged and rivers overabundant.
The weatherman further advised that people should not dive in rivers, walk through flowing rivers or take shelter under trees since certain actions can lead to lightning strikes.
It is only last week that over 50 lives were lost following a landslide in West Pokot following heavy rains in the area.
