Former National Assembly deputy speaker Farah Maalim has launched a scathing attack at Deputy President William Ruto's camp.
In a tweet on Sunday, Maalim lamented that the second in command and his team mistreated the former North Eastern Province in both the 2013 and 2017 elections.
He argued that the camp was behind electoral malpractices in the region as they sought to ensure the region remains under the leadership of Jubilee. He noted that the chicken has come home to roost after what transpired at the region.
"Justice is fairness and the reverse is assumed to be true. What's fair is also just. We were treated to terrible electoral injustice in the former NEP in 2013 & 2017 by WSR wing of JL. They are now being hounded out. The chicken has come home to roost. Fair yes how about Just ?' he tweeted.
The remarks come at the backdrop of the alleged fallout between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto. Ruto has, however, dismissed the claims.
During the state of the nation address in Mombasa, Ruto was nowhere to be seen after Uhuru cracked the whip on his perceived ally Agriculture Cabinet Secretary.
Ruto has also insisted that Uhuru has no plans to cling to power. He made the remarks at Hiriga village in Nyeri County during the burial of Martha Kirigo, the mother to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.
“For clarity, the party has no scheme or plan to change the constitution with the intent to take Kenya back to the dark days to have leadership concentrated in one corner of this country," he said
