Political analyst Edward Kisiangani has questioned President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga over the extension of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report team, predicting more turbulence ahead.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Kisiangani said that it was not necessary for the extension of the term of the team. The political pundit argued that the team had enough time to work on the report and present the same for implementation.
"This BBI mystery is baffling. I don't understand why the tenure of the BBI team was renewed. There is no constitutional crisis in Kenya. This BBI matter is going to divide our country even more for no reason," he said.
Kisiangani said that it does not make sense for the team to claim that it is going to collect more views when it had time. He argued that the team could be planning to introduce something new in the report.
"We are being told the BBI team is going to the people again. Why suddenly are we now talking about the people when the constitution of the BBI team was the work of the president n the former PM? Might this team be going out to introduce something new for someone? he added.
The analyst further argued that the team knew very well that the report will cause a storm in the political arena.
“Because a national consensus on how to reconstitute a new Kenya was never struck when the BBI was first launched, the turbulence ahead for the team will be enormous. Dr Aukot is in Court to seek orders to declare BBI illegal. Expect more court cases on the matter," he posed.
