Former Kasarani MP Elizabeth Ongoro has blamed her opponents for engineering her woes with state investigative agencies.

On Thursday, Ongoro who served from 2008 to 2013, said the current corruption allegations against her are being pushed by her opponents.

The former legislator is accused of embezzling Sh48 million meant for constitutional of Kasarani Girls High according to proposals NG-CDF committee had presented.

"This is a political battle and the battle is for me. This is a process of eliminating Elizabeth Ongoro from Nairobi politics," she said.

She maintained the money that is in question was diverted to Kariobangi Girls High School.

"The funds that were meant for Kasarani Girls were transferred and we built Karaiobangi Girls within the same Constituency. Where is the problem?" Ongoro posed.

EACC also took to court 26 other officials among them Ongoro's husband Ferdinand Masha. On Monday, the two had skipped court session.

Her representatives said that she was in South Africa for treatment. On Thursday, she was questioned for three hours.

Ongoro was nominated to the Senate in 2013 having missed out ODM ticket for Nairobi gubernatorial polls. She also lost the ticket in 2017 when running against TJ Kajwang' in Ruaraka.

She ditched the Orange party for Amani National Congress but lost in the main polls. She's the elder sister to Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo.
