Residents of Upendo, Bondeni, Nakuru County are in shock after an 11-year-old boy stabbed his 15-year-old brother.
Confirming the incident, the estate's community policing officer, Evans Ekaliche said the minor was playing with his brother before they started quarrelling over a wire.
The 11-year-old wanted the wire while they were playing outside their house and got angry when his brother refused to give it to him.
The Standard Five pupil is said to have rushed in the house, grabbed a knife before threatening to stab his elder brother if he did not give him the wire.
Ekaliche said the two boys who were left in the care of their uncle by their parents who had travelled upcountry for Christmas were heard by their uncle quarrelling.
The uncle who had gone to fetch water nearby thought the two minors were playing but was shocked to find the boy had stabbed his elder brother in the stomach.
“The uncle had heard the younger one threatening to kill his brother but thought they were just playing. He was shocked to find him lying in a pool of blood,” said Ekaliche.
Ekaliche said the boy was rushed to Nakuru Nursing Home but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A neighbour, James Mbaka said they were shocked to find the boy stabbed after they were heard playing outside.
“We didn’t take their quarrel seriously. We thought they were just playing. We are all shocked,” said Mbaka.
The 11-year-old boy is being held at Nakuru Police Station for questioning over the incident.
The body of the deceased was taken to Nakuru County Mortuary.
