Speaking moments after presenting his documents to the Jubilee Headquarters for the interview, Mariga said that he is not in the race to spoil for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Amolo Odinga’s camp as alleged by some of his critics.

He affirmed that he is the right man for the job after he arrived with his supporters at the Jubilee Party headquarters at Pangani, Nairobi to present the papers officially.

“I am not a project of anyone and I will support whoever wins since I was born and raised in Kibra,” Mariga told journalists outside the party offices.

Mariga is among the 19 candidates who have already expressed their interest in the post after the demise of Former Member of Parliament Ken Okoth.

His name had been forwarded to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) but secretary-general Raphael Tuju asked for the withdrawal of the same until further consultations.

Mariga is expected to use his vast knowledge on the needs of the people of Kibra to bag the seat when that time comes.

Sources indicate that Deputy President Williamm Ruto has a hand in the entry of Mariga into the race for the seat.
