Bidco staff also interacted with expectant mothers and children at the same facility, and delivered Christmas gifts to them.

Willis Ojwang', the company's Corporate Communication Representative, said the visit was aimed at celebrating with the patients, given that they are far from their families.

"This is a special time for many but challenging for patients, especially children and mothers and that’s why the company chose to uplift them through singing Christmas carols, sharing with them their experiences and offering them some goodies,” he said.

The women, some of whom were coming to terms with the situation after losing their babies, expressed their gratefulness, terming the visit encouraging.

One of the patients said she feels uplifted after the visit, having lost her baby on the same day, adding that songs from the Bidco choir struck her with a new feeling of encouragement.

"I was happy when going to the delivery room to have my baby on Christmas day, but I lost the child. This struck me completely, making me hopeless, especially seeing other mothers who we were admitted with, breast-feeding their children. However, when the choir came in singing Christmas songs and giving us goodies, I felt uplifted and encouraged. It meant a lot that despite what I am going through, there are people out there who care,” she said.

The team also visited Kamiti Juvenile Prison and the Thika Nursing Hospital.
