The airline had donated the said amount to carter for unspecified charities as well as communities affected after the crash. The compensation has, however, not augured well with the families of the victims.

The relatives of those who perished insisted that they should have been consulted before the announcement of the compensation.

Relatives and acquaintances of the deceased have started to make phones to the management of the airline over the matter.

Quindos Karanja, who lost his entire family to the crash said that they are not impressed with the move to compensate them without any form of consultation. “This is unacceptable. They did not consult us, we only learned this morning,” said Quindos said, as quoted by Standard.

The planemaker has been on the spot after two of its jets got involved in an accident in a period of five months. Kenyan lawyer Kabau-Wanyoike has described the compensation as unfortunate. He compared the situation to adding salt into a wound.

All the passengers on the plane from Addis Ababa to Nairobi perished after it crashed.
