The family of Maseno University student Nicholas Kipleting who drowned in River Moiben 7 days ago are calling on the government to help them retrieve the body of the their kin.
According to the victim's elder brother Bensolus Kiprono the 24-year-old Bachelor of Science student drowned on 26th December and up to now the body has not been found despite numerous efforts.
The deceased was bathing when he slid and drowned in River Moiben.
“The search for the body of my brother now entered day seven and that we have not received any help from the state in retrieving his body. We want his body found so that we may give him a decent burial,” said Kiprono.
He says they have been using local divers whose efforts have borne no fruits and that they are calling on both the county and National government to help them find the body of the deceased.
The brother of the deceased who spoke to the press at River Moiben where retrieval exercise is going on said the village divers in the retrieval mission lack proper equipment to effectively trace and recover the missing body.
“The family is now desperate. Our mother (Lydia Mitei) has lost hope. We had plans to celebrate the New Year but we couldn’t do it because of my brother’s drowning. We would have wished to find his body and lay him to rest,” added Kiprono.
